Terms & Conditions

  1. This competition is open to artists who have been resident in the United Kingdom for the last three years and are;
    Either graduates of a recognised training institution within the last 10 years;
    Or practising artists who have publicly exhibited digital moving image in the last 10 years
    Entrants must be over 18 years of age
  2. You enter by completing the application process through our website, and by uploading your digital moving art work according to the instructions found on that website at www.jerwoodmovingimage.org
  3. You can submit your digital moving image work from midnight on 25 September 2007 until 8 am on 3 December 2007
  4. We are looking for digital moving image works which demonstrate excellence and originality in the art of moving image. The entries must stand on their own as works of art, although they may be part of a larger piece of work
  5. Entrants must obtain consent of all key collaborators and individuals who worked on their digital moving art work
  6. Entrants are also responsible for obtaining the consent to use any underlying works used in the digital moving image work
  7. All digital moving art work will be vetted and may be rejected at the sole discretion of the Jerwood Charitable Foundation. Only approved digital moving art works which fit our criteria will be presented to the competition. Before submitting your digital moving art work, it is important that you have read our terms and conditions, guidelines and FAQ
  8. You will be required to provide valid email address, mobile telephone number and postcode on the registration form. In the event that the complete and correct information is not provided, the form will be considered incomplete and therefore invalid. Invalid forms will not be accepted as valid entries to the website
  9. Information regarding personal data provided in the form will be collected, stored and processed in a database for the purposes of managing the website and entry into the award. Such information will not be used for any other purpose other than for the selection, presentation and promotion of the winning shortlisted works. You hereby agree that we may use your personal data to confirm by email your successful registration and upload of work, and for notifying you if you are shortlisted at each stage of the process
  10. We will enter into separate agreements with each of the 30 shortlisted artists, but in principal you agree that your work will be available online for viewing, and your work will be sharable, broadcastable and sourceable
  11. Under no circumstances will you be compensated in cash or in kind for any use whatsoever of your digital moving image work by the Jerwood Charitable Foundation, other than if you win an award
  12. The award selection will take place after the 3 December 2007 and shortlisted winners will be notified after 10 January 2008.
  13. There will be 30 artists’ work shortlisted for the final competition who will be invited to show their digital moving image art works on our website
  14. From these 30, the selection panel will select 8 of the best of these digital moving image art works for exhibition at the Jerwood Space
  15. From these 8, the selectors will chose 3 winners who will be eligible to receive £10,000 each
  16. The prize winners will be the applicants who conceived and made the digital moving image art, and are nominated as the artists in the application form to enter the prize. No other individual, whether featured in the winning digital moving image work or not, is eligible to claim for the prize
  17. Travel expenses to and from the exhibition at the Jerwood Space will not be provided
  18. By entering an application for the award, the applicant will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the Terms and Conditions. All entry instructions forms, the FAQ and the Guidelines form part of the Terms and Conditions.
  19. Regretfully, we cannot be held liable for system failures on the website. Nor can we be held responsible for the failure to fulfil the obligation of any of the third parties involved in this prize, although we will do all we can to minimise the effect of such failure
  20. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these Terms and Conditions, or the spirit of the award, then the Jerwood Charitable Foundation may, at its sole discretion, refuse to accept an application. The Jerwood Charitable Foundation will be the final arbiter in any decisions and these will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into
  21. Any breach of these Terms and Conditions will result in a forfeit of the prize
